Open Question: Dancing and Pilates. Good combination for weight loss and toning?
Posted by admin on January 20th, 2009 filed in General
I want to slim down and tone up a bit for my senior portraits. I’ve been doing aerobic exercises that are mostly dance routines [because I love dancing] for anywhere 30 – 60 minutes 6 days a week, followed by anywhere from 30-60 minutes of pilates after my aerobic exercise depending on how pressed I am for free time. In combination with my exercise program, I also concentrate on a diet consisting of lots of vegetables, lean meats, and whole grain breads. I include lots of fruit as well as a multivitamin. Will this be effective enough for me to at least be able to drop 2lbs a week? I really want to do this the healthy way so that I don’t obtain any health issues from taking diet pills or damage my health by going on an insane 900 calorie diet and exercising for like 3 hours 7 days a week, you know? If you don’t think my routine is effective enough, can you please correct me and give me some direction for better results? I would appreciate any help at all. Thank you.
I was incorporating Pilates into my routine as a form of strength training because I want long, lean muscles instead of bulky muscles. I use 3lb handweights when the routine calls for them. Is this sufficient or should I try something more challenging?
